Meet the Team

Akimi is from Japan and has been living in NZ for the past 20 years.

It is a dream of hers to work with animals, particularly with dogs and cats. Akimi has been volunteering for SPCA cat wards for the past three years and worked at Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium for two years prior to joining the Central Bark family.

When she was in Japan, she had two dogs (a Shiba and Chawchaw Mix and Black Shiba), cats, hamsters, rabbits, roosters, parakeets, a turtle, and even frogs!

“I cannot live without animals in my life. I love any animal and I believe my passion makes them happy all day”.

Akimi has a Canine Communications Diploma and Canine Behaviour Training Diploma.
