Join Our Team

Are you passionate about animals and ready for a rewarding career in animal care? We’re always keen to hear from dedicated individuals who meet our minimum requirements and share our commitment to animal welfare.

Working at our facility means being part of a team that cares deeply about the health and well-being of every animal in our care. While it’s highly rewarding, it’s also a physically demanding and fast-paced role that requires a serious sense of responsibility and a calm, professional approach.

Minimum Requirements

To ensure the highest standard of care, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Experience

At least one year of experience working in a doggy daycare, or similar, such as kennels, or as a professional pack walker. Professional animal care cannot be compared to caring for family pets – it is on a much larger scale, with entirely different dynamics. For this reason, we can only consider applicants with professional industry experience.

Relevant Qualification

A formal qualification in animal care, such as Animal Management, a certificate in Animal Care companion animals, animal behaviour and welfare or vet nursing.

Proven Canine Knowledge

Experience managing group play dynamics, using positive methods such as body blocking, verbal cues and praise to manage and guide behaviour. The ability to balance play and overexertion to manage arousal levels, with strong training in understanding canine body language and the ability to identify signs of stress, aggression, or discomfort.

Force-Free Training

A deep understanding of force-free, positive reinforcement training methods is essential.

Husbandry Experience

Proven experience in caring for cats and dogs, including maintaining high standards of cleaning and hygiene.

Stress Management

The ability to respond to stressful situations calmly and professionally, including handling unforeseen emergencies with confidence and composure.

Responsibilities

Working with animals isn’t all about cuddling fluffy friends – it’s a role that requires dedication, physical stamina, and a serious commitment to animal welfare.

Working Independently

Staff are often responsible for managing tasks alone, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animal welfare.

Group Play Dynamics

Safely managing group play among dogs requires excellent judgment and the ability to assess and respond to canine body language.

Hygiene & Husbandry

Maintaining clean and safe environments is essential for both animals and staff. This includes routine cleaning of enclosures and spaces to a high standard.

Health Awareness

Basic health training, such as pet first aid, is preferred to ensure quick and effective responses to any health concerns.

Handling Emergencies

Unforeseen situations can arise at any time, from medical emergencies to behavioural issues. Team members must stay calm under pressure, assess situations quickly, and act in the best interests of the animals.

Our Standards

As an SPCA-certified daycare, we meet rigorous animal welfare standards. It’s important that team members understand what this certification means and consistently apply those principles in their daily work.

We uphold:

  • The highest levels of animal care and welfare.
  • Positive reinforcement techniques to ensure stress-free interactions with all animals.
  • An environment that prioritizes safety, respect, and well-being for every pet in our care.
