Animal Care Manager and Dog Behaviourist

Rebecca Hassall has 20 years' experience working with dogs as a trainer, behavioural consultant and husbandry manager. She also holds a B.Sc. Hons in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare, a M.Sc. in Cognitive Neuroscience and is in the final stage of completing her PhD in Canine Cognition at the University of Auckland.

“I’ve always loved animals, especially dogs. After years of pleading, I was given my first best friend at age 12. I developed such a close bond with Bonnie. I grew to see her as not just a pet, but a special, emotional, thinking individual just like you and me.

This bond showed me my calling in life. I wanted not only to work with animals, but to understand them and know their thoughts and feelings. I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge to teach other people to form strong relationships with their pets and this has lead to my career in animal care, specialising in dog training and the study of canine behaviour and cognition. Helping owners understand their pets' behaviour, and communicate effectively is the favorite aspect of my job, as I see the joy it brings to both owners and pets alike.”
